Finally got around to writing about my second fav freeware game thanks to the response my first instalment.

In The Suffering, players take on the role of Torque, a man how has been convicted of atrocious crime of murdering his family – guilty or innocent? Is the question. He’s sentenced to life in Abbott State Penitentiary, a haunted place that hides a terrible past, one that threatens all humans in the penitentiary, prison guards and the hardened criminals. The game was released in 2004 by Midway but only became a free download in late 2008.
Torque’s tale unfolds in 9 levels, where mutated creatures, fellow prisoners slightly on the side and prison guards lurk around every corner. A variety of lethal weapons are at his disposal which are needed to survive and escape from this hellhole. In addition, Torque has a “rage meter”, which filled, transforms him into a gruesome and ferocious creature that looks and feels right at home with the other dozen monstrosities stalking his every move. Torque will be able to interact with other inmate NPC’s and enlist their help in escaping, or take them out if they get in his way.
The Suffering also has 3 distinct possible endings depending on how you play the game. In revealing Torque’s story, he could be a cold-blooded killer, a man wrongfully accused, or something far, far worse.

This is intended to be a multi-part, since I’ve got about 10 favs. Lets see how we gone, let my know if you want more….
One of my fav freeware games ever is, TrackMania Nations Forever. The game lets you drive at mind blowing speeds on challenging and visually stunning tracks in 2 different modes – solo and multiplayer. Nations Forever released a new “Forever” version in 2008 based on the Stadium environment, it comes with a solo mode and 65 brand new tracks that get progressively more difficult as you become proficient. TrackMania Nations Forever will unite the large number of players than the original Nations had thanks to its engaging multiplayer modes, innovative online functions and innovative interactivity between players.

For TrackMania Nations Forever, Nadeo studio chose to take benefit from the modern PC’s capabilities as a gaming, creative and communications platform in order to allow a larger number of players to share a combined gaming experience.
