You would think that Apple would supply a way to do this without charging for it. But being a corporation they want you to buy all the videos from their store. In order to download some free games for your iphone, there will be a few things you need. Number one is an iPhone, obviously, so congratulations if you managed to get your hands on one. On top of the Iphone, you will also need a computer, and an internet connection. The computer doesn’t have to be the most hi-tech in the world, anything in the last 5 or 6 years should be fine.
Having said that, a five or six year old internet connection will probably not cut the mustard here. The slower your connection, the longer your downloads will take. That’s not to say it won’t work-if you are stuck with a dial up connection, you can still download things just fine, it will take a little longer is all.
Something else you will need is a hard drive large enough to take the downloads, and don’t forget the game will be ending up on your Iphone, so you’ll need enough space on that too. Once you’re sure you have all the required stuff, you are about ready to start downloading free Ipod games.
The hardest thing about this is knowing where to find the games. Over the last few years it seems like the whole world has gone crazy for torrent or P2P sites-it seemed like everyone I knew was downloading everything from there. True, you could get free stuff like that, but it’s pretty dangerous, and is it worth getting into trouble with the law just for a free game or whatever? The other main problem with the torrent sites is that a lot of hackers etc, upload files there under false names, so you may think you’re downloading sonic the hedgehog only to find that you are downloading some kind of virus or trojan which will give the hacker access to your computer. Not too cool huh?
For some reason, a few people still do access the torrent sites for their downloads, even though there are some pretty cool safe alternatives around these days. The way these new kinds of sites work is that you pay a one of joining fee, say $35 or $50, and then you get access to their downloads. The downloads are super fast, and you usually get unlimited downloads too.

Inkscape is a vector graphic editing software program that is open source and free. It is to replace Adobe’s Illustrator program that is popular among professionals and graphic design hobbyists. It also works in lieu of many popular programs such as Corel Draw, and Xara X.
But the problem with these larger paid software programs besides the price tag is their availability on all systems. Linux, a free operating system that is becoming largely popular is usually not supported by these large corporate graphics programs, forcing them to use a Mac or Windows. Inkscape supports both Mac, Linux, and Windows. It is unconfirmed if it supports Vista, but its stable version definitely supports XP.
Some of Inkscapes features include:
- Supports SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) – which means the files can be used across platforms so editing can be done in more than one program
- Create webpage mockups – It’s easy to create your website design in Inkscape and slice it in the GIMP or other program for fast website development and deployment
- Large Tool Pallete – Includes a drawing pen, clone tool, shape tool, nodes
- Object Manipulation
- Gradient editor
- Bitmap tracing and Path Selection and Manipulation
- XML Editor
- PNG and Postscript export
The only major drawback is sometimes SVG files can be interpreted differently, or Inkscape may not have full support for some of the new programs(like Illustrator CS4) rendering algorithms, so going between programs may corrupt or modify the image, making for unhappy creators. But this is not a common occurrence and should not be a problem for anyone that does not plan to switch between programs.

I’ve just been updating my virus checker on the home PC after my paid subscription expired. A friend proposed I used Avast which comes from a free non-commercial use home edition.
Fantastic product, auto updates for the latest virus definitions runs in the background and very unobtrusive.
